An Evening For Behaviour Analysis

Nicole Neil, PhD, R.B.A. (Ont), BCBA-D

This presentation will introduce Addressing Obsessive-Compulsive Behavior in Autism with Functional Behavior-Based CBT (Vause, Neil, Anderson & Feldman, 2025), a new clinical manual designed to accompany the child-directed workbook I Believe in Me, Not OCB! Developed by behavior analysts for behavior analysts and other mental health clinicians, this resource integrates core principles of applied behavior analysis with components of cognitive behavioral therapy to support autistic children experiencing obsessive-compulsive behavior (OCB). Attendees will be guided through the treatment framework, which emphasizes functional assessment, individualized skill-building, exposure with response prevention, and caregiver collaboration. We will review supporting research, outline key components of the manual, and discuss how this behaviorally grounded approach can be implemented in clinical practice.
